About Me

Welcome to Security & Structure

I didn't take the traditional path into cybersecurity. Honestly, I think that is my ultimate edge.

Before I ever looked at a security alert, I spent 20 years managing clinical teams. My days were spent reading rooms full of anxious families, delivering hard news to hospital administrators, and keeping my composure when things went sideways. That background shaped how I communicate, how I handle high-stakes pressure, and how I remember there is always a real human being behind every support ticket.

The Technical Blueprint

In 2021, I leveraged that high-pressure experience, graduated from the University of Michigan Cybersecurity Bootcamp, and officially launched my career in the tech space. Today, I work as a Cybersecurity Professional specializing in enterprise security architecture and defense.

My day-to-day work focuses on complex technical environments:

  • Defensive Engineering: Designing and tuning robust detection mechanisms across Google SecOps, Cortex XSOAR, Splunk, and CrowdStrike.
  • Email Security Expertise: Hardening systems using Mimecast, DMARC, SPF, and DKIM to prevent phishing and malware delivery.
  • Automation & Playbooks: Building tailored SOAR playbooks that cut critical investigation times by over 50%.
  • Emerging AI Tech: Constantly self-teaching across multiple artificial intelligence spaces to discover how modern automation can defend enterprise infrastructure.

Structure, Advocacy, and the Spectrum

Beyond the firewall, my most important role is being a dad to my kids, Grace and Corey Jr. Raising a daughter with autism has given me a deep, personal commitment to advocacy and awareness.

This blog serves as a space to discuss how we build strong structures — not just in enterprise network architecture, but in our communities, schools, and families to support individuals on the spectrum.

Pure Michigan, Athletics & Grit

I grew up in West Branch, Michigan, playing baseball for Ogemaw Heights where I earned second-team All-State honors my senior year. My educational path took me through Central Michigan University, Ferris State University, and the U of M Hospital system for my clinical internship.

  • The Highs: Watching Michigan win the National Championship at the 1998 Rose Bowl.
  • The Lows: Standing in the stands during the infamous Appalachian State upset — and accidentally getting caught on live TV doing the "Surrender Cobra" on the very first Big Ten Network broadcast.
  • The Loyalty: Holding Detroit Lions season tickets since 2001, hitting one away game every single year, and traveling across the Atlantic twice to watch them play in London.
  • Endurance & Hobbies: Hitting the gym, skiing in the winter, working on my handicap on the golf course, and running the Detroit Marathon in 2012.

Whether you are here to talk about email security headers, automation playbooks, autism advocacy, or the Detroit Lions' playoff chances — welcome to the site.
